A former North Carolina deputy has been arrested in Florida after authorities allege he planned a mass shooting at a Louisiana festival targeting Black people.

A former North Carolina police officer accused of threatening a mass shooting at a New Orleans festival was arrested in Florida on Wednesday, officials said.

“Authorities obtained information Gillum planned to travel to a festival in New Orleans to conduct a mass shooting and then commit suicide by cop,” the sheriff’s office said.
