The Ascension family honored Martha during a prayer service on campus Friday and students gathered around her parking spot, where dozens of flowers had been placed.

Martha Odom was a writer and a dancer described by her school as a "joyful presence." She died in the Baton Rouge mall shooting on Thursday.

A 17-year-old high school senior was identified as the victim killed in a mass shooting at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, La. Police also said that a suspect had been charged with murder in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson said the school is “heartbroken by the news that some of our students were involved in a serious off-campus incident.”

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office released the preliminary autopsy results for the student killed in the mass shooting at the Mall of Louisiana.

Martha Odom was among three other students from the school who was caught in the crossfire inside the Louisiana mall's food court on April 23.

Students at Ascension Episcopal in Lafayette placed flowers on Martha Odom’s designated parking spot Friday, a day after the 17-year-old was killed in a shooting at the Mall of Louisiana food court.
